Family-Friendly Volunteer Opportunities at HSCC

The Humane Society of Carroll County welcomes families to volunteer together and make a difference. These roles are designed to be enjoyable and suitable for children when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please note that adults may be required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation before bringing their children to volunteer, ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved.

Family-Friendly Volunteer Opportunities

• Reading to Cats
Spend peaceful time reading aloud to cats in our Community Cat Room. This calming activity helps cats become more comfortable with human voices and encourages socialization. Open to volunteers ages 10 and up, accompanied by an adult.

• Bubble Time with Dogs
Bring joy and enrichment to shelter dogs by playing with bubbles. This fun activity engages dogs mentally and physically, helping them stay active and happy. This opportunity is suitable for families and children ages 5 and up.

• Happy Paws Helper
Support the well-being of shelter dogs by assisting with daily enrichment activities such as preparing toys and treats. This role is family-friendly and does not require direct contact with dogs.

• Adoption & Event Poster Distribution
Help raise awareness by delivering adoption and event posters throughout the community. Families can work together to spread the word and connect more animals with loving homes.

Family volunteers play an essential role in HSCC’s mission, fostering compassion and community involvement. These opportunities allow families to contribute meaningfully while working together.
