Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is heartbreaking. At the Humane Society of Carroll County Inc., we provide humane, compassionate, and affordable end-of-life care for Carroll County community members. Our priority is to ensure every animal’s final moments are peaceful and dignified.

Scheduling an Appointment

Appointments are limited and made same day by phone by calling (410) 848-4810 and pressing option 2 for Animal Control. Please note that pet owners are unable to accompany their pet during this process. Those who wish to accompany their pet, we encourage you to contact your veterinarian. Our staff is dedicated to providing compassionate care on your behalf.
  • Responds to reports of animal abuse, neglect, or cruelty.
  • Investigates concerns about stray, dangerous, or injured animals.
  • Enforces local and state animal ordinances.
  • Assists with lost and found pets and wild animals in the living spaces of your home
  • Educates the public on responsible pet ownership, licensing, and vaccination requirements.

What to Expect

When you arrive for your appointment

When you arrive, please check in at the front lobby to complete the required paperwork and take care of applicable fees. Cats should be safely secured in a carrier. For dogs, please wait to bring them inside until after paperwork is completed, unless you were specifically advised otherwise during your scheduling consultation.

Honoring Your Pet

Cremation Options

We offer cremation options, or you may take your pet’s remains home for burial.

Private Cremation
Private cremation provides you with the opportunity to keep your pet’s cremated remains as a permanent and personal keepsake. When you choose private cremation, your treasured pet will be the only pet in the cremation chamber during the cremation process.

When the cremation process is complete, we ensure that you receive only the cremated remains of your pet. Weight is charged per pound:

  • 0-5 Pounds – $105
  • 6-30 Pounds - $130
  • 31-70 Pounds - $165
  • 71-100 Pounds - $190
  • 101-130 Pounds - $205

Communal (Mass) Cremation
With communal cremation, your pet is gently placed into the crematory together with other pets. Because no cremated remains are returned to you when you choose a communal cremation, you may wish to consider one of our personalized memorial paw prints as a timeless remembrance.

  • Communal cremation - $0.91 per pound
  • Ink nose or paw print - $20
  • Clay nose or paw print - $50
  • 71-100 Pounds - $190
  • 101-130 Pounds - $205
