Donor Information

The Humane Society of Carroll County (HSCC) respects the privacy of all donors. We are committed to safeguarding personal information and ensuring that donor data is protected. Your name, address, and any other personal details you provide will be used only by HSCC to keep you informed about our programs, special events, and funding needs. If at any time you prefer not to receive these communications, you may contact HSCC and we will gladly remove your name from our mailing list.
HSCC collects and maintains the following types of donor information when voluntarily provided:
  • Contact information (name, address, telephone number, email address)

  • Giving history
  • Payment information (last four digits of credit card numbers, digital copies of checks received)
  • Records of events attended, publications received, and special program requests
  • Information shared by donors in the form of comments or suggestions

Electronic Personal Records

Donor information is maintained in a secure database. Only authorized personnel have access to this information, and only for legitimate business purposes.

List Sharing

HSCC does not rent, sell, trade, or give away its donor lists. The identity of all donors is kept strictly confidential. Donor information is used only for HSCC’s internal purposes and to further our mission.

Changes to Donor Records

HSCC will update, correct, or discontinue communication with any donor upon oral or written request. Donors may also:
  • Review personal information on file

  • Request deletion of information
  • Update contact preferences
  • Unsubscribe from email communications (via the unsubscribe link or by contacting HSCC directly)
Please note: It may take up to two months to remove you from printed mailings if one is already in production when your request is made. HSCC will be unable to remove you from any mailings using the U.S. Postal Service’s Every Door Direct mail program, or publications that HSCC messaging is included in the form of paid advertising.

Permanent Record

HSCC, with approval of the Board of Directors, will maintain an electronic record of all requests to discontinue contact. Oral requests will be documented by staff, then permanently recorded in HSCC’s donor database. These records are retained to the extent necessary for legal or liability purposes.

Cookies and Online Tracking

HSCC uses small data files called “cookies” to improve your experience on our website and to help us understand how our site is used.

We may use third-party services, including Google Analytics and payment processors like PayPal or Petango, which may also place cookies. These cookies help track website activity and ensure secure transactions.
